Dry and breezy conditions are expected on portions of the southern High Plains today, but more widespread elevated fire weather conditions are likely tomorrow ahead of a cold front and amid downslope flow. A cold front will push through the Plains and Great Lakes tomorrow, with showers and thunderstorms expected along and ahead of the cold front across the Southeast over the weekend.
Snow is more likely across portions of the Great Lakes and into the Northeast this weekend into early Monday as the cold front pushes into the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico late Sunday into Monday. An upper-level trough is expected to approach the West Coast early next week, and forecast guidance indicates it will likely split, with a short-wave trough traversing through the Northern Rockies before moving over the Great Lakes and a cut-off low forming over the Southwest before moving onto the southern and central Plains later in the week.
Overall, near to above normal temperatures are expected for much of the West and onto the Plains next week.
Chances of showers and storms are forecast to return to the southern Plains, Texas, and the Southeast mid to late next week as well.
