The brass BDM is usually recognised as being stronger, is more expensive but less flexible so may be more prone to damage through bending.

The Tizip is gaining popularity and is now used by DAM for the shoulders but not for the relief zip. These zips can be a bit temperamental but generally function well. I had a dodgy one once which was changed free of charge but I have seen them miss a few teath from time to time.

As Craig says, treat them with care and they will generally provide good service. Roll the drysuit from feet first, tuck in the arms as you go and leave as a sausage until you get home and hang it up.

The Zip is a plastic one similar to the T-Zip and it has stood up to everything I have put it through. When I'm done using it, I just chuck it in my kit big along with the rest of my kit and generally leave it to stew for a day or two before emptying it and drying it. I have probably greased the zip with Vaseline about times in the whole time I have owned it.

If I were to replace it with a new, similarly expensive one and had the issues a lot of people have complained about recently, I would probably be a bit annoyed. So instead I went for the dry trouser and dry cag option.

Works much better, costs far less and a lot less to go wrong. Click to expand I think you're just a spammer. Since the information you posted about your competitors is incorrect, it makes me question your SZIP product. I had the exact failure mode on a zip of mine, and made the same repair.

Worked for a little while, but like you I was so paranoid of tearing it again that I got the zip replaced. Messages 47 Reaction score 21 of dives - Yea, the fear is there now haha. I will dive it until it fails which I hope won't be soon. Update I got a response from the manufacturer who took a look at the pictures I posted.

I did this using a cotton bud at their recommendation after cleaning the area. The grease is supposed to close any small gaps that can cause small leaks. So my Aquasure fix and their silicone grease fix hopefully combine to keep the zipper water tight for a long time. I've done about 10 dives since my previous post and I'm still dry.
